After the advance sell out success that was Ravers Are: Bonkers last November, the bright and often forward thinking Ravers Are: collective return to Lakota in Bristol this coming April with an even bigger and better all night rave event line-up that presents not only a World exclusive back to back between UK hardcore icons Darren Styles & Joey Riot on the headline, but also the introduction to the South West of one of Amsterdam’s greatest exports Endymion and the debut of one of the UK’s most loved international DJ’s Mark EG. The headliners will perform as part of a carefully prepared legion of talent comprising of both headline and breakthrough artists, crossing a selection of genres that include hardcore, hard dance, hardstyle, techno, hard trance, trance, old school, gabber and much more.

In just five events, the Ravers Are: brand is one that has cut it’s teeth providing exceptional underground rave parties for it’s masses, their last event at the Lakota venue, Ravers Are: Bonkers was massive success, with a lot of positive press following it from both critics and die hard fans of the genre alike. Now, in 2010, Promoters Ben Niacin and Pikey return to build upon that very success with their next highly anticipated event that also marks their second birthday; meaning they are under double the pressure to deliver something very special, for which they’ve worked hard to commit to with a line-up that suits the taste of every type of reveller.

Towering atop the headline are two titans of UK hardcore that for the first time in the genre’s history go head to head on the same set back to back. Famed for his contribution to not just hardcore but also various other genres of dance music over a near two decade period – Darren Styles’ work on not only his own artist albums, but also that of AATW’s successful Clubland and Clubland X-Treme Hardcore album series, not forgetting a multitude of work featured highly on other sell out compilations and a countless CV detailing appearances at some of the UK’s finest events makes him the premiere artist in hardcore today. Here he makes his debut for Ravers Are: as he goes back to back with Ravers Are: resident and one half of the award winning team behind the Lethal Theory record label, Joey Riot, who has in recent years made an outstanding commitment to hardcore music. Whether it be as a DJ, Producer, Engineer, Recording Artist, Vocalist, Songwriter or just all round live entertainer – Joey’s love and devotion to his work, has kept him paramount in the eyes of his fans and peers the World over. The two work together on the same set of turntables at this Ravers Are: event for the very first time in history, accompanied by another first timer to Ravers Are:, legendary lyricist MC Storm - making the complete package something truly to be marvelled at.

Also featuring as a South West exclusive for the first time in Ravers Are history will be a set from Dutch import Endymion, who have become hugely popular amongst UK supporters of late. Providing dark, filthy and energetic European hardcore that have helped them carve a name amongst even the most discerning of critics, Endymion will also be making their South West debut at Ravers Are:, much to the excitement of many of their UK following. This is further amplified by yet another debut to the Ravers Are: roster, the one and only Blackout Audio proprietor, international headliner, out and out entertainer and hard dance and techno hero, as well as Core Magazine editor Mark EG – who here makes his first energetic appearance for the Ravers Are: massive.

Joining them in Lakota’s cavernous main arena will be an Essential Platinum ‘Past & Future New Breed Showcase’ which pits the UK’s number one hardcore DJ Gammer against the newly signed and highly rated Ravers Are: resident JB-C, a Twista Vs Maximum Impact back to back set from the DJ Squad-E and scene legend Seduction, a Quosh Records showcase from superstar scratch master SY, a face-off between two of the scene’s harder players Next Generation’s Brisk & Evolution’s Scott Brown, a ‘History OF Freeform Madness’ back to back from Nu Energy’s Kevin Energy and Ravers Are: resident and Notorious head honcho Marc Smith, a Lethal Theory Raw mash-up from Ravers Are resident and co-promoter Pikey and the incredible Darren Grant and a new breeds battle between Ravers Are: resident DJ Bishop and the outstanding THC artist and Fusion resident DJ MOB; as sets from Ravers Are: creator Ben Niacin back to back with Hardcore Distortion’s Chris Outburst and Herefords Freeform Pioneers DHP & Notes.

For every measure of hardcore and hard dance talent that is to adorn the decks and effects at this all night spectacular, there will in equal measure be a brilliantly talented MC and so, Ravers Are: X-Treme will see a host of microphone specialists representing in the main arena that includes the aforementioned Storm, plus Ribbz, Keyes, Macca and residents Wotsee, Enemy, Static and Si The Sigh.

Working hard to deliver frontline entertainment to lovers of all of the undergrounds various styles, Ravers Are: are also pleased to introduce the premiere of the Ravers Are: Harder zone, which highlights the skills of some of hard dance and hardstyle’s best artists, including another exclusive import, Germany’s superb DJ Slideout also a first for Bristol as well as the South West techno legend Scorpio, Hardcore Heaven award winner Brisk playing a darker set than that of the main room and the collaboration of Notorious White’s Jay M and Marc Smith under their Force 9 guise as they continue their Ravers Are: residency alongside, Tugie, Ravers Are: resident Iain Cross, Tecknick, Tones back to back with Pikey, the awesome D4RK and another of Ravers Are’s finely established South West residents Teflon. The zone will be more than capably hosted by widely supported MC’s Ribbz, Si The Sigh, Outbreak, Riggsy and Gsus.

Over in Zone 3, Ravers Are: put a unique spin on things to keep the event fresh and original by introducing the Joey Riot & Friends zone which sees the man himself bring a selection of friends to co-host the room and both play and no less MC to a style of music they wouldn’t normally perform! Anything goes in this room as Joey, Gammer, Marc Smith, Scorpio, Pikey and MOB team up with Storm, Enemy and Obie for a completely new zone with a totally insane twist to it!

Finally, the fourth zone once again brings a wave of new and breakthrough artists as the South West’s very own Hardcore Distortion present their best pick of the area’s most spectacular up and coming artists that include DJ Unleashed, Callum G, Prove IT, Gilly, Dagzy, Jaw Shaw, Buzzy, Flymo, Chris Croft, Bobbin, Jon Boi, Ferrisoi, A1, Jonny B, DJ Burn and regional favourites Wreka & Ricochet and brand manager Chris Outburst. MC’s will include Mousey D, Kenny D, Mitch, Peaty, Riddle, Deverstate, Danny J, Fitzy, ME and Turbo. Serving as not only a Birthday session to celebrate two years of raving greatness, this event will also be working as a warm up to Ravers Are’s forthcoming involvement in HTID’s colossal In The Sun event in June which combines a variation of event brands, DJ’s, MC’s and entertainers under the infamous HTID banner as they head to Llorett De Mar in Spain this Summer for their annual raving holiday bonanza from the 13th to the 20th June.
